What's the current minimum wage?

Please see the Employment Fact page on minimum wage for the latest figures. Generally the minimum wage increases every year in April. 

What notice do I have to give an employee?

The notice period will be in accordance with the employee's contract or alternatively the statutory notice of one week for each completed year's service up to a maximum of 12 weeks (whichever is the greater).

Can I claim SSP back from the government?

In normal circumstances you cannot reclaim SSP. However, if the absence is related to COVID-19, you are able to claim up to 2 weeks' back (from the first day of absence), through your National Insurance contributions.

When do statutory rates change?

Statutory rates usually change in the April of each year.
