Not Running to Plan
Sometimes things do not run to plan during a disciplinary (or appeal) process. Detailed below are some of the situations that can arise and guidance on how to deal with them. Each situation will have its own facts and circumstances. Remember that the overriding requirement is to act reasonably throughout.
An Employee Raises a Grievance During a Disciplinary
It is not uncommon for an employee to raise a grievance when the employee is required to attend a disciplinary meeting.
The question is whether to proceed with the disciplinary or deal with the grievance first. This will basically depend on the nature of the grievance.
