12. Family Friendly - Statutory Pay
Maternity Pay
Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) is payable for the first 39 weeks (during OML and the first 13 weeks of AML), if the employee is eligible to receive it. SMP is 90% of average earnings for 6 weeks, followed by 33 weeks at the current SMP rate (or 90% of earnings for the full 39 weeks if this is less than the current SMP rate - see our Employment Facts for the latest rates).
An employee will be eligible for SMP if:
They are employed by the Company in the 15th week before the week the baby is due; and
They have been continuously employed by the Company for at least 26 weeks at the 15th week before the baby is due; and
They have average earnings of the lower earnings limit or more (calculated over eight weeks up to and including the last payday before the beginning of the 15th…
