| 5. Trial Period
Completion of trial period If the trial period is successful and the employee’s employment is to continue, they are deemed not to have been dismissed for reasons of redundancy, and they would not be entitled to a redundancy payment (if eligible). You should therefore write to confirm their continued employment in the new role. However, if the trial period is unsuccessful, the position reverts to that of redundancy and the employee is regarded as having been dismissed, for reasons of redundancy on the date when their employment under their original contract ended and this should be confirmed in writing.
